The ICRMT and UCCI has monitored the progress of HB163 senate amendment #2 and the risk it poses to public entity law enforcement administration. The possible financial impact to local governments and the ICRMT is incalculable, and the bill as stands poses a grave threat to the fundamental tenants of law enforcement and policing. Many of the liability immunities and protections in place for law enforcement are vacated and void. Some areas of traditional duties can be criminal in the language of the bill. It is a stunning rewrite of policing. The ICRMT members are encouraged to contact local state representatives to alert them to the risks of this bill passed.
